Our Lovely Gollie

Post by Glenys »

Do you follow your gut instinct where your dog is concerned ? I would say always do it. Yesterday our Dog Gollie who is a nine year old Giant Schnauzer was a bit quiet then when he was offered his tea he refused it I had offered him a human biscuit early in the day and no he didnt eat it he was panting so I rang our Vets Hillcrest at Chorley where we took him straight away The Vet checked him and was worried that his heartbeat was fast his temp was very high he was very lethargic she said his liver was enlarged we agreed to any treatment he needed it was awful leaving him but we were very glad we did The Vets kept us informed each step of the way he was very dehydrated last night today our beloved boy had an operation to remove his spleen and it contained a large tumour which was about to burst and had that happened he would have bled out he is now in intensive care at the Vets we were allowed to see him briefly today he is on a drip and painkillers and strong antibiotic and very sleepy. Thank God for Gut instinct if we had waited overnight the story would have been so different Our Vets are wonderful what I like is they explain everything and are kind we know our dogs are in safe hands and also the Labrador rescue dogs we take there too.
If you have any spare prayers please send some to our boy and never take a chance if you are worried about your dog because they cannot tell you whats wrong .

Update :
thank you for all your good wishes and kind words just another update from our Vets His temp is down to normal but not eating or passing urine I suppose as its massive surgery its early days Ill know more in the morning thank you again for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers he is so precious to us as are all our dogs but he is one in a Million xxx
