Happy New Year

Post by Glenys »

Well what a year! there has been nothing normal about it at all and sadly some of our supporters, friends and families did not make it through which is so very sad and our sincere condolences go to those people you are in our prayers and not forgotten there are many more people going through the saddest of times our thoughts are with you too.
We have also received news of those who have lost beloved dogs some adopted many years ago and kept in touch which is a wonderful part of our rescue we call aka Malt Kiln Farm Magic ( aka MKF Magic ) .
During lockdown the team managed to get dogs straight into homes in a safe way we had help with transporting too thanks to our volunteers and whilst we were refurbishing kennels here they often went to Katies in Cumbria.
Sam with some help from My Son stripped away some ivy and trees at the back of the kennels and found the boards had rotted but after 17 years wasn’t a surprise but the were never empty enough to do before but Sam managed to replace the wood re-line the kennels also re felt the roofs now all ready for the influx of dogs I am certain will happen.
We also managed to get the drainage sorted in the paddock amongst many other jobs here and lost some of the banking near the stream too so fencing there became precarious.

The worrying part of Lockdown is impulse buying of dogs and puppies resulting in vastly inflated price sold on the internet which prompted people to sell their dogs and not seek our help to find the suitable homes.
It is so important for me to say thank you so much that in spite of the difficult times we all faced people were still kindly donating financially and helping us keep going for which sometimes it’s not always possible to find words to express our gratitude to you simply to say Thank you for being there for us as we are about to go into the 26th year of Labrador Rescue ( North west) .
Special thanks to Marge Walsh for her tremendous work with the Bonus ball which has raised £5221.20 this year a really fantastic fundraiser and well supported by friends of rescue

Always remember if you are feeling sad or lonely or simply need advice you will always friends on here.

Happy new year, Keep safe and see you in 2021
