For The Love of Connie
Post by Glenys » Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:25 pm

Last week we were alerted to the plight of a beautiful Labrador by the warden at Warrington this dog had been taken to a vets in St Helens the man had been refused by two others Whitecross Vets St Helens took her in for emergency surgery
the man had provided a false number we are hoping this person was a good Samaritan but who knows the vets Named the dog Connie the pictures are too graphic to put on here they will be in the press at some point .
Connie has so many deep puncture wounds everywhere some inches deep into the muscle the staff fought to save her Life and the Nurses offered to volunteer to stay with her so she was never left alone they fell in love with this brave little girl and we were more than happy to yes please when asked for help after approximately week she was released into our care and Lisa our Team member and Jennifer went to collect this most precious cargo and Jennifer and hubby are now caring for Connie who in spite of the pain inflicted on her
( possibly by fighting dogs ) her tail wagged at the kindness shown Jennifer said we are so sad that she cant have cuddles as its too painful but the abundance of love she is receiving they are sleeping downstairs too .
We think she was a bait dog her wounds will take a long time to heal as some are so infected they cannot be stitched every part of her body is affected and she has internal injuries too maybe my being kicked we are all 100 percent behind dear Connie and her devoted foster family she is back at the Vets tomorrow but she is on a very long road to recovery .
Please keep her in your heart and prayers .

We will never know her past but her future is secure under the care of our rescue and her Foster family .

A report from Jennifer

Connie is getting more confident and braver every day! We've been leaving the back door open to see if she will go into the garden alone and she likes to sit and sniff the air and watch the birds. She's been out a couple of times by herself but only if she can still see us through the window. We've also been working on getting her used to the car and our camper. We took her to the beach yesterday and she travelled really well and had lunch in the van. She happily sat there watching the world go by and also had a chat to the nice National Trust lady She has another check up at the vets on Tuesday but her wounds are looking good. Just need to keep working on her anxieties, fear of men and teach her to go to the loo outside and not in the house! She says thank you to everyone who has been sending her good wishes and for helping her to heal

I am so pleased Connie is making progress. Glenys/Jennifer you are a star thank you for taking good care of Connie and giving her lots of love and attention. I cried when I saw her injuries I don't know how folk can be so cruel. Hopefully with love and patience she will learn to trust again, do zoomies on the beach, run through muddy puddles and learn the joys of chasing a ball into the sea.
Sending love and healing thoughts to Connie. :bighug:

What a beautiful dog and for what she obviously has been through she still seems to trust humans unbelievable. The people who do this to any animal need to be horse whipped. I am so glad she is getting all the help she requires and is in a loving place at last
