Hi Everyone!

Well, I bet you thought I had forgotten all about you since my last update was SOOOO long ago! I would like to blame Mum for this but in fairness, I don't think I can as she has been away from the office all summer and we don't have the internet at home.

I have loads to tell you - do you remember my new (now old but continuing!) duties of Goldfish Patrol and Snail Duty? Well, I have ANOTHER two duties - Guinea Pig Watch and Fly Catching. At work we have a big outdoor enclosure which is full of guinea pigs and they're ACE! I have to stalk up to them and stand with one paw raised and observe them carefully. This task takes me quite a long time and it's so exciting that sometimes I have to tremble and shake! The guinea pigs don't seem to appreciate my care and attention and devotion to their welfare - they either scurry away or just carry on eating the grass - so ungrateful, they could at least come and say hello.

The Fly Catching Duty is really good fun but you have to be really quick at it - it took a bit of practise at first but I'm really good at it now, I can tell you! I do this on Big Brother Benjamin's yard because all the flies go in his big feed bucket or sit on the wooden walls of his stable. I watch them really carefully then once I have selected one, I leap at it and crush it between my teeth before it can fly away. Benjamin is really grateful for this service as he hates the flies. Hairy brother just mutters things like "waste of energy" and smiles his nasty smile but I don't care - it's fun and Benj appreciates it.

I have also been working really hard at being a proper gundog. Mum showed me how to pick up dead rabbits after she has shot them. I was a bit dubious at first and had to prod it and poke it with my nose quite a bit but then I plucked up courage to pick it up (just in my front teeth) and toss it in the air. I then carried it for about 2 yards (Mum had only thrown it 10 yards) and Mum said that was a really good start. Next time we went out I had apparently inwardly learned and digested (don't know what that means - Mum said I had done that but I don't think so because I didn't eat it) and picked the next one up a few days later with no hesitation at all. Mum was really impressed. I'm really good at going out longer distances now to find them - I sniff the air really carefully to locate it then rush in and pick it up. I give it to Mum really nicely but I do think that's a little unfair - I would quite like to eat one.

Speaking of eating one I must tell you about my new diet. You may remember that when I came to the Rescue my hair was falling out and I had really sore skin. The Rescue made me a lot better but at the beginning of this summer, the itching started again. I had to wear a bonnet to stop me making my tail sore chewing at it - at least Mum let me choose a pink bonnet but it was poor consolation. Mum took me to see an allergy specialist who said I had to do an exclusion diet so Mum decided it would be a raw meat one and guess what she got me - Rabbit!!!! It was really yummy - it's all minced up with bonemeal in it but I was still hungry after eating it because apparently you don't need as much as you would if it were the biscuits. So I now have raw broccoli with it as well to try to fill me up (impossible task I might add).

Unfortunately it didn't make me less itchy so I am now going to have a skin allergen test (whatever that is) as my specialist says that it's probably pollen related. When they find out what it is they will make me my personal vaccine! I don't itch at the moment because all the pollen has gone but Mum says she's not risking it for next year with me - very wise I think. I get to stay on my raw meat though because I love it so much and Mum says it wouldn't be nice to not let me have it even though it's a bit more hassle.

Well, after all these duties and activities, you'd think I had no time left for anything else but I have got a fantastic new bubble game. I have put in some photos below of me and the bubbles.

And more . . .

We've also been to Wales again to swim in the sea and do retreive work there and it is just BRILL so I have put photos of me and Lud (Hairy Brother says it should be Lud and I - he always has to criticise)

Pictures of us in the sea in Wales . . .

Had to include this last one of Lud just to show you what a handsome big brother I have!

Have fun reading my update, hopefully it won't be so long next time,

Lots of love

Great update and fab pictures! Lud is as handsome as you are pretty. :love6:

Loved reading about your new duties, and sounds like your gun dog skills are really coming on. Sorry to hear you've had some more problems with your skin, though, and hope it will all be sorted out. You're a very special girl with a very special home. :love2: :love2: Look forward to reading your next update.
