Peppa's frantic friday and eventful saturday...

Post by Ablineth »

Friday morning I looked out of the bedroom window and my first thought is always " is it a drying day" it was grey but at least dry so a good start to the day.

So morning routine of letting out the dogs only slight difference is talking all the time to guide blind Lucky round the corners to the steps, washing on, cup of tea and birds, you are all as well versed in this as I am. The dogs had a whale of a time in the field, Grayse ran off with the end of the hosepipe whilst it was running and sprayed me with icy water :1001: and then when she let go it snaked all over the place spraying everyhing.

Puppy did a few minutes lead training on her own and she was so good and all in all looked like it was going to be a nice quiet friday so I could finish the baking I had promised to an auction for saturday.

Then visitor number one arrived, a very nice couple who stopped to say they used to live in my house around 30 years ago ( I think from the number of people who stop to say they have lived here that at least half the population of North Wales has at one point lived here  ) we got chatting and then I discovered the kept poultry and so we nattered for ages, Peppa came and said hello and so enjoyed the fuss.

We came in to start the baking and I had a call from Glenys to see if I could collect a dog and it was quite urgent, I said of course and would do it later ( after baking) then as it sounded really urgent just said give me 10 minutes I am on my way. Peppa was bundled into the car for a journey to MKF. all the way there she slept and I was dreading the journey home as the southbound M6 was bumper to bumper for miles and miles. Bank holiday friday afternoon is not the time to travel. When we arrived at MKF Peppa said hello to Aunty Glenys who had to agree that she is a really good looking girl :love2: . A quick cup of tea and then Sam and I lifted a very sad girl we have named Hope into the car.
Peppa had remained in the car as good as gold, we had the most horrendous journey back it took a little over 2 hours but Peppa either slept or amused herself with her toys and Hope just sat in the back of my car so very still.
Back home my gang were so pleased to see me and when I opened my car and lifted Hope down they all said hello but were more keen to see where their puppy was and she was sooo excited to be back with them. Next job all the bedding out of the car crate through the machine after removing the previous load and pegged it out. :P

Now to start baking  so mixer out, tins greased and first cakes in quickly, next lot mixed and ready. The dogs were running in and out and playing chase for the shoe and all in all having a ball which was great as I was busy. The weather had turned rainy and the dogs were wet and so was the floor but I thought not to worry it wold be mopped later.

I had my corner base unit cupboard doors open as I was in and out for cake decorations, icing sugar etc when out of my eye corner I saw Peppa scurry across the kitchen and heard an odd noise, I turned in time to see her with a brand new 2 kilo bag of caster sugar in her mouth running across the floor leaving a trail of sugar behind her ( I have emailed pics to Ian and asked if he would be kind enough to put them on) now remember the floor is wet and we have a trail of over 4 pounds of sugar across the tiles, at this point Geoff walked in from locking up the birds with the rest of the gang who all walked through the sugar :1001: :1001: Geoff's footsteps sounded like Wilson, Kepple and Betty doing the sand dance :1001: Sadie thought it was to eat and had to be grabbed and all the while Peppa is racing around with the bag letting the remnants pour out. The porch looked like there had been a sand storm, all the pile of clean vet bed was covered in sugar, my work boots were full of sugar, where it was on the wet tiles it had dissolved into a liquid sticky goo.

We threw the dogs outside, threw the vet bed outside and grabbed a sweeping brush, have nay of you ever tried sweeping up 4 pounds of damp, dissolving sugar off a wet floor? I cannot recommend it, it is a nightmare. We cleaned it up as best we could and I mopped the floor but it dried sticky and so had to be done again and it is still sticky in places. This morning the vet bed we threw outdoors was covered in slugs--yuk :2008:

So to today saturday, a very early start as I am welfare officer at a local poultry auction and of course where I go puppy goes, so today Geoff did the birds and put the washing on :bravo: :bravo:

Peppa was a hit yet again with everyone saying hello to her. There was a sale of household goods and garden stuff etc all laid out on the grass so went for a walk around the lots. One of the lots was a nude garden statue, Peppa did not like it, she growled and barked and put her hackles up, there was something about it she really disliked. We met a collie, a westie and a Bedlington terrier and all said hello to her and she said hello back. People were very impressed at her sit when I stopped to talk to people, she does not sit for long but at least she is trying.

I had her crate at the top of the hall but everytime she could see me she started barking so we put her crate back in the car and she had a sleep. Kay arrived and met Peppa and took her for a long walk around the showground, I believe lots of people asked about her.

Lunchtime Geoff went for fish and chips for us and Peppa had a fish minus the batter which she loved.
We took her back into the hall just on her lead and all the children came to play with her and say hello. Peppa was having a great game with an empty plastic bottle because it was skating on the wooden floor and spinning. Everyone was amazed at her story and could not believe she was nearly put down. One man was telling me his weimeraner had exactly the same condition as Peppa and whereas the first 12 months were hard she now has a liquid on her dinner to help control it, the weimeraner in 11 years old.

There was a thunder storm whilst we were at the auction and she did look up just once when the thunder was very loud but we ignored it and so did she and went to sleep.
Today she has met so many people of all sorts of shapes sizes and ages it really is doing her good. O
There was a gamekeeper there and he said she had a very intelligent head and was incredibly impressed when he saw how even at ther age she fixes on me when I speak to her, so :bravo: :bravo: Peppa.

Peppa has been here 2 weeks tomorrow and poor love has been thrown in a the deepend but she takes it all in her short stride and has settled in so well. The gang love her , she is most definitely " their puppy" , a weigh in tomorrow to see how she has progressed this last week.

I am hoping for a quiet sunday, but who knows...........

Ky and Peppa puppy and gang plus Lucky and sad girl Hope

Well yesterday was the day I met the gorgeous Peppa,Ky took me to her car to meet her ,she eagerly jumped out and we went for a walk, did I say walk.Peppa on seeing Ky disappear decided she wasn't going anywhere, sat down on the grass and stayed there for a few minutes, people were sitting in their cars watching us in amusement as she really wasn't going anywhere.

Then she decided she was going to walk but only a short distance, then started to bite on the lead to say that's it no further. So decided to head to the show buildings,we had to pass Ky's car,Peppa recognised it and tried to jump up,door was closed.Onwards we went ,now Peppa seemed happier-----------------People making a fuss of her ,who can resist this gorgeous little black pup.She sat to allow them to touch her ,many asked about her ,her story told ,we gave out cards to many interested people who are interested in adopting some could not believe that a rescue was needed for Labradors. When Peppa caught site of Ky she just lit up wanting to get to her, there is a strong bond between them.

As Ky has told us in previous posts that Peppa likes to collect things and yesterday she decided to collect litter that people had just dropped on the floor one item being a polystyrene cup,she carried it for ages ,people were smiling and laughing which encouraged more enquiries about her.

We had a rain, thunder and lightening it didn't phase her at all.Lead walking improved and she would sit when asked to do so. :bravo:

Ky has taken a picture of us,as soon as she saw the mobile phone Peppa immediately went to the sit position----------what a poser.

When we met up with Geoff ,Peppa was pleased to see him,we took her back to the car and as Geoff opened the door Peppa attempted to jump in ,but she is only little and the back of the car quite high.Peppa went into her cage and started snacking on her biscuits.

This young lady in such a short time has melted many hearts.Thank you to Glenys and MKF team for rescuing her,a very big Thank You goes to Ky,Geoff and the wonderful gang who are taking so much tender loving care of her. :love3: :love3: :love3:

Good luck with the weigh in and Good luck with your training classes you beautiful gorgeous girl. :love5: :love5: :love5: :love5:

Hope to see you very soon.

Love

What a busy life you lead I don't know how you fit everything in Ky. Peppa sounds to be having a fantastic time & getting lots of socialisation. Can't wait to see the pictures, i hope the stickiness has gone off the floor now
