Norrie, Ky and Geoff
Prayers and healing thoughts coming your way
Been trying to remember what we gave ours - but it is normally wild rice - no good for Norrie
so all we can do is wish him a pain free night and hope the antibiotics start to work overnight and settle his gut again.

Re: Norrie back at Vets
I've never known any labrador reject Heinz tomato soup - just a little on their food.
I'm not sure that Norrie's delicate tummy could cope with it though.
Something about the smell of the soup seems to conquer a reluctance to eat.
Come on little Norrie. We are all willing you into eating and getting better.
Auntie Ky really needs you to get better sweetheart.

According to my 'natural' dog book, herbs that stimulate appetite include peppermint, watercress and chamomile....but I expect that the vet will have an opinion on this.
Hope things are looking better this morning.

Re: Norrie back at Vets
The first thing I did this morning was come here for an update and was so hoping for some good news. I'm just not used to a lab who isn't interested in food and can't think of anything you could possibly tempt him with.
Keeping everything crossed that he pulls through, this poor boy has a place in many hearts!

Re: Norrie back at Vets
As Gill says I had never been used to a lab who didn't eat but when Khan was suffering from renal failure he just wouldn't eat anything. The food the vet gave us was deliberately bland but as he got thinner and thinner I just started cooking everything I could think of to tempt Khan to eat. I would be up at 6 am cooking spag bol or fish or chicken dishes, you just can't rest, all you can think about is getting your dog to eat.
My heart goes out to Ky, Geoff and David we had 7 weeks and it is exhausting your brain just doesn't switch off and you don't want to leave your dog at all.
Really praying that the medicines work and Norrie starts to eat again

Re: Norrie back at Vets
Like everyone else I am so willing Norrie to respond & pick up again. Ky probably knows this, but at little of some food that is completely different (as far as possible)from the food that they were sick with often triggers them back to eating again.
I had years of these episodes with my darling Bunty.
