Every bit of me is willing little Norrie to pull through. It is heartbreaking to think last week he had started to enjoy life and play, thanks to Ky's devotion and care. Sending much love and healing thoughts from here for that adorable little lad. X

From Ky

Just got out of Vets.
His temp is now silghtly raised, there is now obviously some sort of bug working through him, he has had a slow acting anti biotic jab and a muscle relaxent, he is on Buscopan and antibiotics. I am to try and tempt him to eat-- how i do not know i have cooked snd chopped and minced all day-- they think he is scared to eat as his guts will feel just like they used to and of course he cannot have all the normal things-- rice , rice water etc so i will just keep trying him with stuff.
He was chirpier in the vets than he has been here i think he likes going!!!!
He has lost weight but is still slightly heavier than this time last week so he has probably lost a kilo or to be scarey 25% of his weight gain, still no one said this would be easy

I ask if he is ok to come home ( Glenys )

Yes perfectly he is drinking and not dehydrated, i have put glucose in the water , the rest will be bouncing
They think whatever it is he tried to get rid of by being sick but the bug has gone to his guts and once again said his immune system will be compromised because of his prolonged lack of condition, they said whatever it is has probably not even caused my lot to notjce cos they are in good fettle . It is just time to get him over it and of course the biggy is to get him eating-- we ARE back to square ine there as he has no interest at all

Poor darling. You can imagine how Norrie must fear food and its associated effects with his history..
I'm racking my brains to recall tips others have given to encourage a dog to drink. Can anyone else remember the advice given on the forum?
My dogs always had a drink after eating a rawhide chew but fear Norrie may not have the strength for that..
Well done Ky, keep it together, we all support you wholeheartedly xx

Come on Norrie, we are all willing you well.

I am glad he is well enough to come home, I know he can't afford to lose weight and must eat but as Ky said he will not want to eat co his guts feel like they did before he came to rescue. But having said that my gut tells me tomorrow will be another day as I am sure with the antibiotic he will begin to feel better in himself.

Healing and positive thoughts in abundance for this lad, he needs to get well, I am praying tomorrow will bring good news.

We've been quietly following Norrie's story.....constantly willing him on whilst admiring the awesome care he is getting, and being impressed at the amazing level of good wishes flowing his way. Managing to drink, and having a good sleep, are surely both good things, though.
We've been racking our brains to think of what our labs have managed to eat when poorly......although this situation is obviously a bit different. Skye got over an infection whilst eating only satsumas.....it's all she wanted! We've also had success with baby food (Milupa, to be precise....dried stuff to mix with water). I don't know what's around like this these days, or whether it's wheat free, but it seemed worth mentioning. Scrambled eggs was another success.
Here's hoping......... :bighug: from Issey and us!
