Ellie is feeling 'ruff '
Miss Ellie has been off colour the last few days and yesterday and in the night she was sick. It's her poor little face thinking I am going to tell her off that gets to me. Now today I am not going to feed her to try and cleanse her system and if she carries on being ill I will take her to the vet.
What do other folk do to take their dogs mind off food on a starvation (hate that word) day and do you have any suggestions for settling their tummies?. She is drinking and still wanting a walk. And tummy tickles !

Re: Ellie is feeling 'ruff '
Hi
Sorry about Ellie being poorly. Mine get fed twice, so e.g.if one is sick in the night I may miss breakfast and try a smaller meal in the evening if he/she has been ok in the day. Sometimes I would boil a chicken and give some with rice instead of their usual dry food. Most times it's just caused by something revolting but harmless that they've eaten, or too much grass, bits of bark.
Hopefullly she will soon be back to normal.

So sorry to hear that Miss Ellie is not too good!
Did she sit out in the sun for a long time before coming ill? Lily sometimes makes herself ill by too much sunbathing!
But more probably something nasty that she's eaten just trying to get out of her system!
No solution for the how to take their minds off food, but when you do give her something, start with something very bland. I usually give Lily the equivalent to half an adult portion of rice for breakfast, and if that stays down, give her the other half for lunch, and if that stays down, I add some cooked white fish or chicken at tea time. Then the next day, I give her half rice and half of her normal food for both meals. Then next day back to usual regime!
It's tough when your baby is not well. Give her a tummy tickle from me. Hope she's soon back to normal.

Re: Ellie is feeling 'ruff '
Thanks guys for the suggestions. To make matters worse she just ran for her ball and somehow hurt her leg or paw and wouldn't put weight on it. She has now, but is limping a little.
Poor girl is not having a good time at the moment. Can't wait for cheeky Miss Ellie to come back.
She has eaten a little food with great relish so am waiting to see how the next few hours go. She is currently lying on my feet.

I tend to feed them if they want to eat, you know it is something bad when they don't! Small portions just to line the stomach and I always give plain boiled white rice, plan boiled turkey or chicken, boiled sweet potato and natural live low fat yoghurt. Works a treat for sickness and diarrhoea!
I hope Ellie is feeling better soon, sending lots of healing thoughts and hugs.

So sorry to hear Ellie is unwell
Agree with what has been said little but often cos she won't eat if she did'nt want and vets these days for sickness and upset tummies don' t recommend not offering food. The only reason I know is that Max has IBD and as well as under our vet is also under a specialist and never when a flare up has happened we have always been told to offer him his meals.
Maybe if things don't improve in the next day or so and also with her hurt leg it might be worth a trip to your vets for peace of mind.

Thanks for your healing thoughts everyone. Miss Ellie is back to normal now and was microchipped this afternoon. She was as good as gold and didn't murmur. So as a reward she got 2 New balls and a collar. She really is a good girl.
