More news
today as you know was weigh in day so an anxious time all round. Norrie has had a couple of days where he did not really eat as much as I would have liked, it was when Suzy arrived and I think it put him off a little, anyway all back to normal now.
I appreciate he is more active now and so was not expecting great things at our weigh in and check up BUT if you remember last week he was 19.9 kilos well this week he is ...................drum roll please ..........20.85 kilos. That means he has put as near as dammit a kilo on in just a week again.
The vets are highly delighted with his progress and say it is nothing short of a miracle and whatever I am doing to carry on as it is working. He had 2 vets, 4 vet nurses and 2 office ladies all cuddling and stroking him and he loved it, everyone agreed he is a lovely boy and will make someone a wonderful dog.
He has put in total 4.35kilos on and although looking far better is still a thin lab and today we all agreed he needs to put on a lot more yet.
I had a cup of tea to celebrate and started working things out. Today is day 24 of Norrie's new life, over that 24 days he has gained 4.35 kilos or in real money 9.57lbs, this means that he is gaining weight at approx 6.4 ozs per day or .18 kilos per day whichever you understand.
If we can keep this rate up which is doubtful as it will very likey drop off to half a kilo a week so I reckon by late spring early summer he will be up to weight.
His muscles are still very poor but as he gains strength and energy I can increase his exercise and try to build him up. He can now "twizzle" in circles without falling over till the third or forth "twizzle" which is amazing.
He still likes to stand in doorways so you cannot close the door, I do not know why he does it but maybe it is so I cannot go past him without him knowing and going with me.
I now have a hole in the corner of my dressing gown from where he gets a hold of me and pulls me around on a morning as he is so pleased to see me and has to parade me around all the time almost purring like a cat.
The attached pic shows Norrie and Mij chilling after Norries trip to the vets.
All in all a good day and another good week.

Great news!
Just an idea - would hydrotherapy be good for him at some stage to help with the muscle building? Perhaps Lindsay's sponsored ride would help towards it?

Re: More news
Simply amazing.
I can't work out wihich is harder, getting weight off or putting weight on,
I do believe it is harder to put weight on than take it off.
You can half starve 'em but, you can't force feed 'em.

Re: More news
Lovely news again this week. As you say, the weight gain is bound to plateau as time progresses. Wonderful that it continues to move in the right direction
