It's me, Sam, I'm an Essex boy now !
Hello everyone, it's Sam here
Well, my new Mum and I had a long journey South and I arrived in this strange place, which everyone is calling Sarfend on Sea, I believe it is actually supposed to be Southend on Sea.
On the journey, I was snoozing most of the time, but from time to time I put my head up to listen when I thought I heard my Mum talking to herself, but what she was actually doing, was telling me what a good boy I was being.
It took us a long time to get home, because we hit bad some bad weather, loads of rain, we could hardly see in front of us at times and my Mum said to me that we'd have to go a bit slower, as it was raining so hard she couldn't see properly and I was what she called her "precious cargo"!
When we finally reached Hertfordfordshire, we got to a place called Bishop's Stortford and my Mum said to me, "that's it Sam, I don't need to look at the map book any more, I know my way to Essex and home from here".
I thought to myself, thank the Lord for that, as I was getting rather peckish !
When we finally got home, my new Dad came out to meet us and he had my new brother with him !
My Mum explained to me that Mick was her and her late husband's dog and Benji was my Dad and his late wife's dog, when my Mum and Dad became a couple, they all lived together.
Benji is a collie cross, he's 13 and we hit it off immediately and went for a long walk around the block, so that I could stretch my legs after the long journey.
I had my dinner and wandered around the house, checking it out, I must say, I like it here, I've decided I'm going to stay here for the rest of my life.
Before I bedded down for the night, my Mum held my paw, rubbed my chin and told me that I had made her life whole again.
Apparently, I am what is known in "Essex speak" as a "diamond geezer" !
I'll keep you updated of how I get on.
Bye for now,
Love Sam

What a good story Sam, and yes I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your good wishes, Sam is an absolute joy, I reckon with a stable home environment, he'll flourish.
I'm going to let him get properly settled in for a few days, get into a routine and then I'll see if I can get a picture of him and Benji together.
Benji knows what a camera is, one glimpse of a lens and he sits up with his "best behaviour" look and waits to be photographed !
(what a poser !)
I had to laugh this morning, Glenys told me that Sam sits and lets you do his ears, clean them and then put his drops in, sits as good as gold she said, well that is very true, he does.
She didn't say that he takes one look at the bottle and he scoots out of the kitchen and hot foots it into the garden !
I bet he didn't run off from her, I bet he thought to himself, "I'll give my new Mum the runaround" (lol).
I called him and he came back in and sat as good as gold while I did his ears and only a little bit of crud came out of them, Glenys said that they'd virtually managed to clear it up.
He's asleep now on his bed, dreaming of all things nice, hopefully!
Take care

Awww this is fantastic, I am working as hard as I can to convince my landlord to allow us to have a dog in the house. We have excellent references from our previous landlord so here's hoping.
I would have loved to have Sam, but he sounds like he is very happy :-)
Good Luck Sam, gorgeous boy!

How wonderful to know Sam is happy in his new home and mending broken hearts .
When we lost Ned it was awful we had other dogs to love but his space in our hears was empty so when Gollie came he "put us together again" so Sam will do that for you, I was filling up when you drove off because he got right under our skin here, everyone loved him.
He was very cheeky though he found the box of knuckle bones and made a hole in the box at the side and every now and then disappeared into the garage to "Borrow" one .
If ever a dog had a massive character its him.
Wishing you all a wonderful life together.............

Now we just need the results of the York Test.
