Roly

We are heartbroken to have to tell you that we had to say goodbye to our lad Roly today at the age of 11 and a half. His arthritis had become so bad that he had difficulty walking and sadly, the kindest thing to do was to let him go.
Roly was our first rescue dog, adopting us in 2014 following the loss of our previous dog Bruno, and quickly settled in to become a much loved member of the family and a real character. On his first day with us we bathed him and he went out into the garden and threw himself in our pond! He never did it again but would often sit fascinated watching the fish.
Another time we lost him down the fields near our house. We were starting to panic when another dog walker told us a black Lab was having a great time splashing about in the river (guess who!).
We had some wonderful times. Roly went everywhere with us, including on holiday many times in dog friendly hotels and always behaved really well and always managed to get a sausage for breakfast! During this past year of Covid, Roly was great company for my wife who had to shield due to health issues and never left her side. He was a stunning looking dog and we were very proud of him. It has been a wonderful experience having Roly in our lives. The house seems so empty now. Goodnight big lad xx
