I'll leave your fur on the field no more
No fur dust bunnies on the kitchen floor
You were such a loyal, faithful friend
I'm sorry that it had to end

Like me your body grew so old
Your back and legs they couldn't hold
The sparkle deep within your eyes
Would flicker yet, to my surprise

I know now you're not having fun
Our time together's sands have run
You'll stay with me, not be forgotten
I'll cry and call for you still, often

I have a friend, you know her too
The vet, she helped me care for you
She's on her way, she'll make things right
I'll hold you as your day turns to night

Your pains will lift, your spirits rise
And then, dear pup, a nice surprise
The furry friends we've lost before
To greet and share our love some more.
