Think we all agree this is the best news and all crossed Vet report is good later
From Ky Foster Mum in a million..............

Good morning everyone here is the latest on Little Norrie

We have over the last couple of days noticed a marked improvment in him in that he has more energy and has actually been the one to try to get Wotsee to play rather than the other way around.

We have snow here and he has enjoyed sniffing about in it with the others and even joined Grayse on her mission to dig up a mole, it was quite funny as suddenly the white snow turned black as the mole pushed the soil up and Grayse immediately started to dig and Norrie joined in ( that is what they are doing on the attached photo). They did not get the mole but had fun trying.

He is still a bit wibbly wobbly but that is improving day on day and he has quickly learnt that it is better to stand in one place and let this lot race about and then try to grab them as they pass him.

On sunday when we were outside he must have got "hot aches" in his feet as he kept lifting one paw up and then another and at one point fell over when he tried to lift 2 together.

Norrie follows me everywhere but is very good when I go upstairs he waits at the bottom with his head on one side listening for me to come back down.

One exciting thing is now when he wakes up he stretches, not a lot you may think but an animal stretches when it feels well and so he must have started to feel a litle better in himself.

Now the really, really exciting news, when he arrived just 9 short days ago he weighed 16.5 kilos, a couple of days later I was delighted as he had put on 200 grams and tipped the scales at 16.7 kilos.

Here we are just 9 short days down the line, the weather has meant that I could not get him to be weighed but today I did. I thought if he is 17 anything I will be delighted because at least he is heading the right way.
I put him on the scales and could not believe my eyes, I took him off and reset the scales as I thought they were not reading correctly.

So today on tuesday January 22nd I am pleased to announce that Little Norrie now weighs 18.9 kilos!!! He is certainly heading the right way, mind you we are working hard at building him up.

His results have come in this morning and I await a call with them, to say I feel sick and have butterflies is an understatement and I will let you know as soon as I know anything.

Results in and its as we thought it is NOT EPI he has an intolerance to soya beef and rice but if this had been done before his owner wouldnt have been slowly killing him with bad feeding regime it makes me angry that people can see a dog starving before their very eyes and not do a thing about it .
here is Kys report Im sure everyone will be very relieved dear little Norrie got to us when her did............

From Ky

Little brave Norrie DOES NOT have epi, he has very mild pancreatitis but that is due to increased urea levels because of the way he has been treated.

His liver function is fine, phew that was another worry for me, his kidney function is fine again phew I am much relieved.

He is TOTALLY intolerent to wheat, rice and soya and so being fed a diet that was 43% grain based and then on pasta was basically poisoning him every meal.

This poor lad has been in pain ALL his life and has been a victim of gross ignorance.

Whilst I am sooooo relieved we know what is wrong with him I am incredibly angry at the thought that this lad was so very close to death through the gross neglect and ignorance of his owner.

The vet wants him to stay with me till he reaches a near normal weight and he has to go for weekly weigh ins and check ups and I am to carry on as I am and now maybe increase the fat and protein in his diet slightly by including a little more red meat.

Absolutely fantastic news. I am so delighted you have got to the bottom of Norrie's problem. He has made tremendous progress with Ky's 5* care regime....I am sure he will now slowly make progress 'til he is fully well again. I can't tell you how happy I am for him.

Well done Ky Geoff and Gang for giving this lovely little lad a chance at life.
What a beautiful young dog someone is going to able to "adopt" completely socialised with humans and all types of animals. :bravo:
He looks better in every picture we see of him. His weight gain is fantastic. :1951:

Thank goodness they had not got round to having this healthy young lad PTS. Just total negligence. :2012:

Anyone doubt that His Guardian Angel was watching over him :love2:

:bravo: :bravo: :bravo: Such wonderful news it has brought a tear to my eye reading this post, don't know why I had a gut feeling he wouldn't have EPI.

Such a marked improvement in the photo he's looking great, someone is going to get one fantastic forever friend.

How old is he? I was only asking as he looks quite young in the picture of him in his bed with his legs in the air

:bighug: :bighug: s to all

Have been following Norrie`s progress and was as shocked as everyone else to see this poor boy in the state he was. I`m so glad that Ky and Geoff along with their gang, have taken him into their home and now that the cause of Norrie`s weight loss has been identified he will go from strength to strength. The weight gain in a few days if fantastic and i`m sure that he will continue to improve.
Ky and Geoff, you are both stars, giving unconditional love and support to any dog that needs your help, Thank you.
Linda

I am so delighted to hear that Norrie is gaining weight and has not got EPI - I think most of us knew he had not especially seeing the photos over the last week or so the difference in him - I have never seen anything so thin still alive!!
