Hi everyone,

had Casper weighed today and was very pleased as he is down to 44.7kg so has lost 5kg since we adopted him. He is not keen on getting on those scales though as put the brakes on and refused to go near the vets. The nurses had to come out and play with him and give him treats until we could get him in the door so he is now supposed to go for social visits

to get used to it. Casper has met Balee now on our travels! Shirley

Great news.

Good idea to go for social visits, if it's not too far. We take ours in regularly for a treat and a fuss....but then the vet is accross the road!

Well done Casper. Stick with it. It's so worth it when you can get them fit and healthy and really see them enjoying life. We adopted Newton in April, he was 47kg, he's now lost 15kg and is so full of beans, he's like a different dog. It'll be worth it Casper. Good boy.

Well done Casper

and well done Shirley

it's not always easy to get weight off a lab, they have faces that say "Hey you've forgotten to feed me!" just five minutes after they have eaten
My old lab Khan hated going to the vets, sometimes they sedated him in the waiting room and I had to stay until he was groggy and then take him through to the examination room. He's had his booster injections half way up the wall because he was so panicked . When he had to have stitches I took them out at home as the vet thought that would be less stressful for him. He'd had to have a big operation on his ear at 12 months and he didn't want any vet messing about with him again.
