ODIE - almost one year on ...

Well it's almost a year since we came to see Odie and fell in love with him as soon as we saw him. He will also be two years old on Sunday.
He has settled in
so well. Looking back you can tell that it takes them a few weeks to adjust. No matter how happy he looked then, his tail definitely wagged more once he had adjusted!
For any new adoptees out there, any bad behaviours can be removed with a balance of lots of love, firm commands and perseverance.
Odie was not a model puppy. He pulled hard on the lead and would run with total disregard to being called back if he saw another dog.
But all those bad behaviours are now gone and he is a model boy!
Some photographs below over the last year.
Neil

Thanks for the lovely pictures Neil he is now a credit to you, and thankyou as well for mentioning that a rescue dog needs time to settle in and get used to his/her new routine, patience does pay off and in the end you get a balanced dog.So many people want the "perfect" dog to settle in within the first 5minutes,I always say it can be anything from 1 week to a month, to a year, depending on the dog...
What a handsome boy he is too.... :)

Hi Neil and welcome to the site.
What a lovely boy Odie is, he is a real credit to you.
I agree with Kathryn about the settling in period, although we have rescued many dogs over the years - each one is different and some have taken many weeks to settle in. It isn't until you look back that you see how much happier they are.
They always find their way onto the sofa, don't they?? :D

Thanks everyone for your replies and kind comments. But we wouldn't have such a wonderful dog like Odie if it wasn't for those of you who make adoptions like this possible.
We may provide loving homes for these beautiful animals but you make it possible.
