Tanya; Rehomed

Just an up date about Tanya adopted by Mum 21st Feb .
Tanya is settling well, she is such a sweet girl, she is well trained and you can tell she has been loved by her previous family.
She's been to the vets and is now chipped. We are just waiting for her to come into season and then we will know when she can be spayed.
She's so funny; a bit of a 'princess' if she doesn't get her own way (like being allowed to eat Cass's tea as well as her own) she sulks, big dark 'cow eyes' that ask 'how could you deny me anything?'
She loves her walks and also a swim, but she's no athlete, she'd rather walk than run, although she will chase after something she doesn't get the retrieve bit. Maybe she'll be more interested in dashing about when she loses a bit of weight?
Each day her and Cassie grow a little closer. Sadly we realise just how old Cassie has become when you see her with Tanya.
We've also booked our first holiday with Tanya and will take her to Cornwall in August. Happy times ahead!
- Jane (Cassie's Mum) and Tanya's new sister! -

Hi and welcome.

I'm a bit of a newbie myself but you'll soon find out how addictive this is. So glad that Tanya has settled in OK. It's amazing how quickly they fit in with everything. I'm sure she will love having a friend in Cassie. My old boy, Dylan, never got the retrieve thing either - no matter how much we tried he just used to lose interest and find much more interesting things to sniff out.... Anyway, I've only had Fudge for 10 days and you would think she had been here forever. She has brought some sunshine into this house again as I am sure Tanya has too. Enjoy.

Ahh, what a lovely lot you all are. I was so suprised with all the responses, I've never written anything on a forum before. I have been visiting this site for months but only wrote 'cos Mum got Tanya.
Mum did actually adopt an 8 year old girl, Judy in Sept 2002 from Glenys, I don't know if there was a forum then.
Although both rescue dogs have been Mums we are a very close family and only live 12 houses away from each other. Our girl, Cassie goes to 'Grandma school' while we are at work.
Now Tanya is with us Deisel Kate you're right, I'm sure Cassie is glad she has a doggie companion again and has perked up, she was so lonely when Jude went. Dogs definately grieve. Jude was sooo special she went to the beautiful doggy garden last Oct aged 15 and we all (Mum, me, Rob, Karen our daughter and Cass) were devasted. Mum still can't bear to do anything with her ashes, they're in living room with her photo on top!
Anyway we hope Tanya is not grieving too much over her other family. She certainly seems happy enough. Mum takes her into fields near her home first thing in morning and there is practically a labrador club there! One of the owners has 3 labbies all rehomed from Glenys, so Tanya is in good company and has her morning mad half hour running around with her bum tucked under!!
Speak you all soon,
Jane x
