A little boy's puppy

Post by Nesslabs »

Our friends have a little boy who is autistic and finds social situations challenging. Michael loves dogs and they thought having his own dog might help him. He had even chosen the name he wanted - Grace - and they have been waiting patiently for the right dog to appear in Rescue.

Yesterday Paul and Karen brought home a beautiful 8 week old puppy. She's a Lab cross Cocker Spaniel.

She's only a baby but seems to be bonding with him already. When Michael went for his afternoon rest on the sofa Grace decided to join him. These photos bring a lump to my throat. I'm posting them with Paul and Karen's permission.

They look so comfy together and what an appropriate name.

Wishing them many happy years together.

Just had an e-mail from Karen asking me to pass on their thanks for all the good wishes and comments.

She hopes to keep us up to date with Grace's progress and says so far potty training is going okay. More importantly this is the first day for some time that Michael has been so calm, which is wonderful news.

What a lovely little pup she is! I am so glad that Michael and her seem to be getting on so well. Hopefully she will be a really good friend for Michael. Hope to see more news soon. Excellent.

Update on pup

Here is an update and two new photos from Paul and Karen.

"We've had some difficulties with Grace chewing cables! She must be teething.

This is the first week we've been able to to take her out. She's very good at staying with us on walks. Also getting used to various noises but doesn't like the hoover.

Michael sometimes gets over excited with her so when this happens we need to give Grace some breathing space and Michael some time out. Fiona is becoming more responsible in looking after Grace and is quite gentle with her.

Paul will be sending a cheque in the post for your sponsored climb up Ben Nevis.

Paul and Karen"
