Regarding Molly
I was pondering on the sad story of Molly in fact everything in general as not in a happy place at the moment everything seems to be weighing me down we get like that sometimes dont we?
I may have reported this story before but for the benefit of new friends here goes.
Some years ago I had to act very quickly on the plight of a labrador female we had been awaiting a call to accept this girl then the call came it was late at night and I met someone in some obscure place and placed this scrap in my car and drove to kennels we used in those days which was 25 miles away,,My friends husband at the kennels and I took her into the office what I saw will stay with me always .
They the owners hadnt fed her properly and kept her in terrrible conditions she had pulled most of her toe nails out some were hanging off I feel in an effort to escape where she was. but worst of all John said My God they have cut her ears off !! and sure enough they had cut her ear flaps of and crudely sewn them with normal thread.
We suspected they had tried to make her look like a pit bull type she had certainly had pups and was very young.
We realised r she needed to be in a home not a kennel and someone came forward imediately and she was transfered there............
They lavished love on her and gave her so much love .............we paid all the Vets bills .
When it was deemed she was strong enough she was booked into Vets for spaying sadly she died on the table.
We were all so very very sad she had the chance of a new and lovely life and she dies.
We got her body back and made a grave for her at the farm where the kennels were a very sad little group of us stood around ,Sam dug the grave as the new Dad was too sad to help is she was still wrapped in the blanket from the vets, at peace at last God knows what she had been through.
The sheer irony of this is I think she was called Molly !!!!!!!
We do not know why these things happen and on days like today...........I wonder how we can keep on bacause stuff like this is hard to bear.
Thank God for our Dog Friends.

Bless you Glenys you are on the frontline and see so much and I am sure you shield us from a lot too. That story is dreadful, it is very hard to keep picking ones self up at times like that as sadly you know it is never ending.
It is funny as I too was thinking last night about little Molly, I had to shut her out of my mind in the end as each time I thought about her I would fill up
Toby is right the only way to deal with dark days is a bit of time out and some laughter. Sadly, due to the nature of our work we have some very sad times at the Health Centre, but it is rare we let it really get us down. The way we deal with it is through fun and camaraderie, may sound a little insensitive to some, but I think we would all be 6 feet under if we didn't treat it in this way.
I would like to think that we have the same support and friendship on here, we all look out for one another, feel what each of us is feeling and have one very big thing in common, the love and welfare of dogs. I love logging on everyday to see what is happening with everyone, some days there are sad things other days there are happy things I suppose that is life.....lets hope we have more happy things than sad.

I feel as though I have met many soul mates on this site. We all have several things in common:
a hatred of injustice
a hatred of cruelty
a love of dogs of all breeds/crossbreeds but especially labs
kindness and concern for dogs and their owners
When Max was first ill there were so many lovely comments, kindness and concerns that I was at first overcome and then strengthened to cope with whatever happened.
We help to keep each other positive and without the lovely Glenys and all her helpers the dogs that are helped, the bereaved owners, the owners with ill dogs and those looking for a furry lifetime companion would not have found each other.
You do a very difficult job Glenys and we truly appreciate everything you do.

I am just so glad that there is a group of like-minded people (who are friends and supportive) who have the interests of dogs at heart.
You are right Jackie, I think Glenys shields us from a lot of the heartache and c**p that she sees or knows about.
Its not like a 9 - 5 job for them, they are there 24/7. Where would our labs be without them (sobering thought)
xx

Awww!!! Glenys I feel for you.
I know I feel frustrated and upset at times when I see and read things on here so you, who are seeing more than any of us, must sometimes feel terrible!!
It is easy for me to say but keep your chin up!! and lets hope it may be a better week for you. Just think without you and everyone at the rescue many dogs would not have the life they have. :) I am sure like a lot of people on this site, I only wish I lived closer and could do more to help ease the work load!!
Sending you caring thoughts.

I am sorry I have not been around to chat this weekend as I would have helped you through this terrible time.
As Carolyn said the things you see and sheild us all from must be emormous. But just as you are there doing your best for the dogs we are here for you. We will support you in any way we can. What you all do is wonderful, and without reservation. I only have to look at Ella to know if it wasn't for the love you give, we wouldn't have her in our lives.
Big bugs of healing love and light are on their way to you.

What you and others like you do is truly selfless, you are the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for many dogs.
For every Molly, there will be 10 others that go onto live a wonderful new life because of what you and other like you do.
What we mustn't do is become complacent, we must push on to change laws and educate people, we must fight the good fight as they say, then the death of dogs like Molly will not be in vain.
WHO SAYS THERE ARE NO ANGELS?
Thomas M. Mohr
1992
Have we ever stopped to wonder
Throughout our life long trip
Why we meet certain pets
Just once and then.............
Then they're gone as if in to Heaven
No more do they grace our door
Yet an inspiration lingers
It's there forevermore.
These pets were such blessings
They're here and then they're gone
They embraced our lives immensely
For short periods, not for long.
It hurts to see them gone
But there's beauty all the more
We shared a moment of glory
And the memories will long endure.
But the effect is forever
They've helped us on our way
Could they be our guiding angels
That God gave to us one day?

Lovely poem thank you xx
Its not been the best of times recently (must be old age creeping on)
I am turning into Mrs Grumpy, some days its like an uphill cilmb and then some things happen and then its happy face again.I dont know what the way forward is sometimes the endless dogs needing help what started off as trying to help a few dogs years ago is now a 24/7 job.
Finances are always a worry as with any rescues and rescue people its a constant juggle thank God for supporters and friends.
I think its maybe the sheer frustration sometimes, normally doesnt last long :)
