Who knows Lynne! If Bob's outdoor behaviour improves he may make an appearance at next year's fun day. If however I fail dismally with the "meeting other dogs and people" issue, I will not dare bring him as he will cause havoc. I do hope that I am successful as he is such a lovely dog in every other way and I am desperate not to have to only walk him when distractions are unlikely as I did Max (& Poll).benjiesmum wrote:It certainly warmed my heart to hear how Bob the Dog is getting on. :D I'd love to meet him - he sounds quite a character!
It appears that the only way to improve his behaviour is to act as a physical shield between Bob and whatever is causing the distraction but as Bob's head empties of all reason with excitement, I think I may be flattened in the process! He does now ignore animals in fields and cyclists which were also an issue so perhaps there is hope and I have found that if I use the whistle, I can regain his attention to focus on me albeit briefly!
Wish me luck!

Now then Jackie.
Bob is begining to sound more like Balee. Mind of his own when out walking he always wants to gravitiate to the other dogs. I have found that walking in amongst people and other dogs i.e Country fairs, Musical festivals. I use a halti and he is as good as gold. Whilst out in the fields I do all the things - stop, stay, down. never puts a paw wrong until another dog comes over the horizon and he has gone. I may as well not be there.
I keep trying and I think he thinks I am very trying???
