Three weeks on....

Post by jackiem »

I've been posting news of Bob as many of you will know and it has just struck me that someone commented (possibly Glenys?) that I would see Max in Bob at some point. In fact, he seems to have mannerisms of all four of my previous labs and the story so far is:-
Betsy (1976 to 1988) battery-operated tail (Duracell in Bob's case!), ability to open cupboards and doors as evidenced by Bob this morning when he opened two outside doors to see where I had gone and yesterday when he decided to have a look at what is kept in the cupboard under the sink.
Rosie (1988 to 1999) absolutely loopy when excited. Bob has an A* in this particular mannerism. When excited his brain turns into candy-floss and he forgets his own name.
Polly (with me from 2000 to 2007) my little mate. More than the usual labrador desire for food. Polly used to paw her bowl to make it rattle as a reminder that it was dinner time just in case I forgot whilst Bob tries to hoover the food through the gap in the cupboard door by sniffing harder than anyone would believe possible.
Max (with me from 2000 to 2008). Complete and utter desire to be loved, cuddled, stroked and generally made a fuss of (Bob also has an A* in this category). Adoration of coal fire.
And that is in just three short weeks. I wonder what else will come to light? I just hope it's not the wall-eating, carpet un-ravelling and curtain tugging of my three girls!
Has anyone else noticed similarities in their dogs?

Yes, we are sure Lucy is our Ben come back to us, from day one she settled in as if she had been here before, she sits at the top of the stairs in the same place he used to,sits on top of the chair looking out of the window like he used to, eats her dinner slowly like he used to, and sniffs it before she eats it to see if it meets with her approval, Have even called her Ben to see what reaction I get, and she looks at me..
Just before Ben died I said to him to come back to me if he could, and looks like he has, but as a girl.. :)

Paddy is just Paddy, Mr Bumble we call him, loves everyone and everything.. :) and loved for just being him.

Nope, I can honestly say that, apart from a tendency to hang their poos off clumps of grass and bushes :| , Perro and Buster like chalk and cheese.

I'm so glad Bob has settled so quickly.
