Six months on!!

Post by JoanG »

Hello, it’s Gorgeous George here just thought I would drop you a line as I’ve been in my forever home for 6 months now! I’m really enjoying myself, I’ve made lots of doggy friends, the best ones are both young girl labs – Kofi is chocolate and Lucy is black. They can both run really fast and make me very excited, Mum gets scared that we will knock her over again it’s really funny!!

We’ve just come back from our hols in Somerset, dog sitting 2 labs, Pippin and Ben we had a brilliant time, walking and jumping in puddles and streams but I was a bit naughty and got myself lost on the Quantocks which was a bit scary.

I don’t know why but my mum and dad are always laughing at the things I do, this morning I snuck into the en suite when mum was in the shower and licked the shower doors so hard that they opened. I liked the warm water spraying on my head but the best bit was trying to lick up all the water before it went down the plughole. Mum laughed out loud at that. She also laughs at me when I start digging really fast when I’m out on a walk BUT when I tried it on the green stuff at home I got told off.

The other thing they laugh at is I’m a very dramatic dog, in that I don’t just lie down I totally collapse with a big thump and when I’m excited, worried or playful I can “boiing” about 4ft in any direction – that keeps them on their toes. I also fell asleep at the top of the stairs with my head hanging down and actually slid down the stairs whilst still asleep!

Have to say it’s not bad here; I’ve almost got them trained, apparently I’m not supposed to have tip bits from the table but if I sit close to Dad he always forgets and gives me something, mum’s just bought a clicker from dog training and she’s threatening to use it on Dad.

Hope you like my pictures, Kofi and me had dug a huge hole in a muddy puddle and she covered me in mud, it was fun. Thanks Glenys for taking me in and then letting me come to live here.

Well George! You've made my mum laugh as well. She thinks those lovely people at the rescue train us to be comedians as my mum and dad keep laughing at me too. Last night mum was laughing at me so loud she woke me up! All I was doing was having a bit of a kip behind my favourite curtain (the one with my night-time bed by it) but my four paws and the tip of my tail were showing. Last time I did this it was my head that popped out. Personally I don't see this as funny but it really tickles mum.
It certainly sounds as though you have made yourself at home and are having a whale of a time in your new home. Glad that you've trained your dad with the tit-bits thing. I've trained mine but mum "bah's" him now too so he tries to be sneaky but my jaw snapping gives it away. Mum gets quite cross with dad as I'm supposed to be watching my weight I think mum is winning though as I am nearly at what my vet calls "an ideal weight" whatever that is!
It was great to see your pictures and your doggy friends too.

Jackie your reply made me smile, sounds as if our men folk come from the same stock :1961:
perhaps I should start clicker training on Geroge and try a few "fish wife" "bah's" on my husband instead. That should make meal times more entertaining - hope I don't give him a heart attack :1967:

Hi Joan
The first time Malc heard me "bah" at Bob they both jumped out of their skin. It was the day of the first visit from the trainer and I hadn't quite perfected the "bah". Bob shot to his basket and Malc was telling his heart to keep beating! I think I was a tad loud so I've quitened it down a bit.
Malc calls me an "apple-woman" rather than "fish-wife". No prizes for guessing Malc's origin.

Lovely update and great photos of gorgeous George. The other black Lab looks so much like our Zac!

So Dave is not alone then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :1970:

Now, in the morning, that little bit of toast he "couldn't manage" has a littler bit next to it! :1962:
