We loved Buddie the moment he bounded out of his kennel! We knew he would be a handful, but thought he was lovely still and would be great with training. Well, I think it’s safe to say Buddie exceeded all the families expectations! He was very well behaved in the car and has been lovely in the home! He sits, stays and lies down on command and walks to heel well when we train him in the garden. He does have his cheeky moments (i.e. stealing hot cross buns from the cupboard!) but these moments have become less and less as he has become more and more obedient. His first walk to our local fields was pretty hectic as he was very excited. He wasn’t the best on the lead but has dramatically improved since then. In the fields, we keep him on an extender lead as he hasn’t grasped the fact he has to come back quite yet but we find a dog whistle works well most of the time and receiving lots of praise when he runs back to us. He has two, hour walks a day and 2 short walks for lead training in the morning and in the evening.
I am so happy we have Bud with us, he’s a great dog with a lovely character. He loves playing with my younger sister and I and loves cuddles and affection. Thanks to everyone at the rescue and Glenys for that great tip of ignoring him when we come in from school until we are settled, then giving him attention. It works really well! :D
Here’s some photo of Buddie we’ve taken over these last few days :)
