Thanks for your replies, George certainly is a comedian and attracts attention wherever we go and no David he hasn't got the red collar yet but it will probably come in time.

Ben the black lab came from The Labrador Trust in Somerset, he was 2 when she rescued him and he was frozen with fear, he lived under the dining room table for 3 months. He'd been kept in a dark stable with a load of other dogs who bullied him as well. If you look at the picture you can see a white mark under his left eye which is a scar where he was hit with a gun and he'd been peppered with gun shot too. Even now he get lumps come up on his ears, face and chest and they break open to reveal lead shot. He's being held by my OH as he still is scared if you point a camera at him, I expect he thinks he will be hit but now he's a very happy dog and has certainly fallen on his paws with my neice and her family.

Pippin was a Many Tears ex breeding bitch she's doesn't stand any nonsense from the two males and is the boss. She's lovely but soooooooooo hairy, it's the first time I've ever groomed George and more blonde hairs came off him than black :1968: :1968:

I agree that they are wonderful pictures, but what a sad tale they all have to tell. Hopefully Ben will begin to trust again given enough love and time.

Joan - Just read your reply post about Ben and Pippin. How terribly sad. So glad they have both been rescued from such sad situations and are now loved and happy dogs. My apologies, though, I got mixed up with the photos and now realise it is in fact your George and Zac who are so alike in the picture of the three dogs together. The likeness really shows when they hold their ears back. It was largely down to a fund-raising collection The Labrador Rescue Trust were having at a garden centre in Somerset that we came to adopt Zac from MKF. We were returning to Leeds from a holiday in Cornwall and were given a leaflet by them. We sent an email asking for Lab rescues in our region and they gave us contact details for Glenys. And in August we brought our beautiful boy home.
