Labrador Rescue

I thought it was time for an update on Issey (we kept Isis as her 'real' name for the microchip & vet etc).
She thoroughly enjoys life in 'her' woods, gardens and places round about, and has made two Beagle friends, Sprocket and Ratchet.
On Wednesday she was speyed. All went well and 24hrs later she was raring to go again....alas, not to be, as it is 'lead only' walks until the stitches are out! She has boundless energy and joy in life, and we love her to bits!
One interesting thing re the rash (see original posts).....she has had no recurrence until two days before she was due to be speyed, which seemed a strange coincidence. Our vet has confirmed that it could very possibly be a hormone thing....we'll see what happens now.

That's fascinating - re the hormone thing! - Lily whom I adopted five months ago immediately after being speyed had a rash - which looked just like teenage acne - red spots with yellow pussy tops that I wanted to squeeze She was treated for mites/fleas etc and vet said possible allergy. 5 months on all now seems to have cleared up - I wonder if it was also hormonal!?!?

Well...our vet's pronouncement was that it could well be hormonal and 'could also trigger canine acne'! Issey also gets the odd spot on her tummy, but we put that down to her tendency to crash through the undergrowth/brambles in our local woods!!
We are curious to see what happens now that she has been speyed.
Stitches out tomorrow eve, then back to normal exercise, thank goodness......it's like having a firecracker on a string!

Great to hear Issey is enjoying life with you. Now that the spaying is out of the way there will be no stopping her Hopefully the rash wont appear again.

Great to hear how much Issey is loving life. She sounds like a real bundle of energy. Looking forward to more updates. Hope the rash doesn't come back again.

I thought that an update on Issey & her rash might be of interest. There is no sign of any reoccurrence, even though she spends most of her time outside amongst plants and trees, and often lies frog-style flat on the grass. The tick treatment we apply (large tick population here in the Lakes) hasn't caused a reaction either. We are tending to favour the hormonal theory, but, now that she is speyed, we might never know for sure.
She has also discovered Coniston Water We're pretty sure, watching her behaviour, that she hasn't seen large amounts of water before, and has never swum. Great fun!
She's gorgeous!
