We have recently adopted a golden labrador called Barney. He travelled very well from the rescue to our home and is settling in very well.
We took him to the vets the following day and he weighed 41kgs, so we are trying hard to help him loose this weight, with plenty of long walks daily.
Barney was pulling on the lead a lot and thanks to Carol's suggestion we have tried a harness and it is helping.
I will try and put a photo of him on here soon.
Happy dog walking.

Congratulations on adopting Barney, its a great name I have a yellow boy called Barney too, and a yellow girl Millie and a black girl Molly - never a dull moment in my house
Look forward to reading more uodates and pics too.

Welcome and I'm glad to hear Barney has settled in so well and like others have said we love photos on here
We adopted George in May 2009 at 10 months and he is a big boy, his ideal weight is 41 kg according to the vet but we've just had him weighed and he was 43kg so we've cut his food and treats down until he's back to normal.
Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures with Barney.
Since Barney became one of the family last March, he's enjoyed long walks, lots of play and a fab holiday in Wales. He's now a very sporty 32kgs, having lost 10kgs.
Wow! Well done to you all on Barney's fantastic weight loss. Sounds like he's loving his fit and active lifestyle.
